  Terms And Conditions

It is extremely important you read the terms and conditions you agree to each time you book an appointment. If you would like to  revisit them I have included the below for you to read at any time.

  • I'm not sure what appointment to book?

    Always the bath and dry!

I offer a range of services. I will always recommend a bath and dry for £45. (£5 surcharge for cats over 6kg)  The dryer helps to remove the grease and dead undercoat that can cause matting and moulting, it's the best prevension for mats! The ADD ON mat removal service (From £35) can be added on to this appointment if your cat is matted.

    Is your cat matted?

The mat removal service by itself (From £35) is mainly for cats who have health conditions meaning they cannot have a bath, or for those who have previously shown signs of distress in the bath, although this is rare. This service is for shaving matted areas and costs from £35-£95 depeneding on number of areas matted. For example, if your cat is very matted on it's chest and both flanks, this would be classed as two matted areas costing £70 total. This is a quick fix for matted cats but will not prevent the mats from returning so a regular bath and dry schedule will be advised.

    My cat is extremly matted!

For very matted cats a lion clip is sometimes the best often. Most are fine during the lion clip, but some do not tolorate the clippers slight vibrations. This clip involves shaving over sensitive areas and joints which some cats do not like. I will always try to shave the stomach first to see how they do. It's very rare but I cannot garentee your cat wil have a perfect lion clip for their first visit. Your cats welfare and safetly comes first.

Lion clips can take 2-5 months to grow out so please be aware of this. Lion clips can still be done in winter, as long as your cat isn't purely an outdoor cat it's rarely cold enough in England to cause an issue. Matting does not provide any warmth and is only uncomfortabe so I advise it's removed as soon as possible.

    I'm worried about cost!

A £45 bath and dry every 8 weeks is more cost effective than a mat removal for 2 areas costing £70 every 12 weeks (And it keeps your cat more comfortable too!) The bath and dry on a recommended regular schedule will keep yout cat mat free.

How can I prevent my cat from matting?

Once I have seen your cat for the first time I will be happy to advise you on maintaining their coat moving forward and the best timescale/service for them. Some cats I need to see for a bath and dry every 6 weeks to prevent matting, and some only every 12 weeks.

If you are worried about the condition of your cats coat please still book in. There is no judgement here, my job is to help your cat feel happy and comfortable.

  • How much will my appointment cost?

My "services" page lists what each appointment includes and the price. Prices depend on the size of your cat and serverity of matting.

    Nail clip £10

    Sanitary trim £20

    Bath and dry £35-£50

    Mat removal £35- £100

    Lion clip £55 - £100

  • How is the bath and dry carried out?

Cats are placed in a special pet bath and warm water and shampoo is used to remove dirt and grease from the cats coat with a low pressure shower.

They're then placed into a  custom made drying box. They have a "happy hoody" over their head with a small amount of cotton wool in their ears to help block the sound of the dryer. I then use a hand held dryer to dry their coat. The happy hoody is taken off at the end of the groom to dry their head.

The drying box is there to extract the fur removed from your cat, it's not an automatic dryer and your cat will not be left alone at any time. I then comb them through to remove any excess fur. I do not use any restraints when grooming cats. I have 12 years cat handling experience . Photos and videos of the grooming process are on my "gallery" page.

  • Can you trim/cut my cats fur shorter all over?

Clipping a cats fur shorter all over is called a "teddy bear clip" I don't offer this service as it tends to look uneven and choppy and does not reduce shedding so if purely for show. It's quite invasive as requires multiple clipper strokes back and forth across the cat which some cats don't tolerate.

Bathing regularly greatly reduces shedding as the dryer removes excess fur, but your cat will always shed to an extent if they have fur.

I do offer lion clips and sanitary trims which can be seen on the services page. Lion clips grow out to the length of a teddy bear trim in around 3-6 weeks.

  • Can my cat have a lion clip?

This is a  "service"  I offer. Sometimes is required due to severe matting, and other-times owners want this for aesthetic purposes, or to keep the cost short for health reasons.

Please be aware most are fine during the lion clip, but some do not tolerate the clippers slight vibrations. This clip involves shaving over sensitive areas and joints which some cats do not like. I will always try to shave the stomach first to see how they do. It's very rare but I cannot guarantee your cat will have a perfect lion clip. Your cats welfare and safety comes first.

Lion clips can still be done in winter, as long as your cat isn't purely an outdoor cat it's rarely cold enough in England to cause an issue. Matting does not provide any warmth and is only uncomfortable so I advise it's removed as soon as possible.

  • How often should me cat be groomed with you?

Bathing and drying every 6-12 weeks dramatically improves the condition of your cats coat, reduces shedding and reduces the need for intensive grooming at home. How often you're able to groom your cat at home has a huge effect on how often they need a professional groom.

Nail trims are normally required every 4- 12 weeks depending on your cat and their life style.

Once I have seen your cat I advise you on a grooming schedule to suit their coat type and keep them comfortable and mat/grease free.

    Persians - Every 4 to 8 weeks

    Ragdolls/Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cats/Siberian - Every 6 to 12 weeks

Domestic Long Hair - Every 8 to 14 weeks (If they are part mix of any of the above breeds they may need to come sooner)

    Domestic Short Hair - Every 10 - 20 weeks

  • Can I stay with my cat during the groom?

No, Due to the size of my groom room and my insurance,  clients cannot stay during the groom. The appointment length will be on your booking confirmation email and can also be found on the "services" page. I will send you an update during if will be finished any earlier/later.

  • How long will it take to groom my cat?

Please check the "services" page for appointment length. Nails trims can take a few minutes, where as lion clips can take 1 hour. This allows time for the cat to become comfortable with what is being done without the groom having to be rushed.  I will give you the normal collection time when you drop your cat off. Appointment length will also me on your booking confirmation email.

  • I've been told that my cat is difficult to groom. What if they are aggressive?

A cat can be difficult for many reasons: fear, aggression, or simply inexperience. Because of the specialised handling techniques, it may be possible that safe grooming of a difficult cat can be accomplished without the use of medication. I do not give any cats medication as part of the grooming process. If your cat can only tolerate grooming with medication that is something cat owners can speak with their vet about.

It's extremely important you are honest about your cats temperament on your booking form.

Every effort is always taken to ensure the groom in completed to a high standard. There may be occasions when this is not possible due to the temperament of the cat. Cats that show severe aggression or agitation may prevent the groom from being carried out. Your cats welfare and m safely are always top priority. This isn't a common occurrence and only 1-2% of clients are referred to their vets as most do very well in a different environment. In this instance, the groom will be charged at 50% of the groom service booked.

  • Do you treat fleas/What if my cat has fleas?

No, I cannot groom cats with fleas. If I uncover live fleas during a groom I must stop the groom immediately and ask you to collect your cat .The full price of the groom will be owed to cover time spent cleaning the groom room. If your cat has recently had fleas, it takes around 3 months on average of a regular good quality flea treatment for your cat and home before an infestation in under control.

Contact your vet for effective prescription flea treatment for your cat/s and a vet recommended home spray.

  • Do you need to know when I've used flea treatment?

    Advocate - 2 days

    Advantage - 2 days

    Bravecto - 3 days

    Broadline - 2 days

If your cat has recently been neutered (Spayed for females and castrated for males) Or any other surgery that has wounds, it's advised to wait at least 10-14 days post operation before getting the wound wet. Your vet can further advise on when it is safe to bath them.

  • Can I drop off/collect my cat at a different time to their appointment?

Unfortunately I cannot keep cats outside of their scheduled appointment time. This is because other clients cats will be here and I can't keep an eye on other cats while i'm grooming.

Your appointment duration will be in your booking email.

  • Do I need to bring anything with me to the appointment?

I ask all cats arrive in a secure cat carrier with a towel, fleece or puppy pad in as some cats can have accidents while travelling, this also prevents them from slipping in the carrier and helps them feel more secure.

I have a selection on treats but if you have special diety ones please feel free to bring them. I recommend using Pet Remedy or Feliway spray in the carrier before traveling, follow product instructions.

Client's cannot stay during the groom but time to collect will be on your reservation email. If you have any concerns before or after your cats groom for any reason, please contact me straight away. By agreeing the terms and conditions you are acknowledging you have read and understood them.

MATTING & COAT CLIPPING

Mats on a cat’s coat can grow tight, damage and tear the cat's skin, which provides a breeding ground for bacteria. Using clippers on a coat can cause nicks if theres matting, due to the cats skin or if they are reactive. Shaving mats can cause abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. Lion clips may be uneven due to matting or how reactive your cat is to the clippers, a smooth finish is always aimed for but not guaranteed. If your cat need is being shaved, by checking the box below, you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure, and any risk including but not limited to sore or bruised skin. Mat removal is an additional service starting at £35. Matted/pelted lion clips will be charged at £100, advice will be offered on how to prevent this recurring. If you book an appointment for a repeat matted/pelted lion clip this will be charged at £195.

COMPLETION OF GROOM

Every effort is always taken to ensure the groom in completed to a high standard. There may be occasions when this is not possible due to the temperament of the cat. Cats that show severe aggression or stress may prevent the groom from being carried out. This isn't a common occurrence and only 1-2% of clients are referred to their vets as most do very well in a different environment. In this instance, the groom will be charged at 50% of the groom service booked. Your cats welfare and safety and my own are top priority.

CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING

Please understand that when you forget or cancel an appointment short notice I miss the opportunity to fill that appointment. There are no fees for cancellations/reschedules that have given 48 hours (2 days) or more notice. I cannot provide any exceptions to this policy and the following fee’s and terms apply –

You can reschedule appointments up until 48 hours before, less than 48 hours notice it is not possible to reschedule. You can cancel your appointment and book a new one if you're unable to attend at short notice. Cancellations giving less than 48 hour notice will result in a charge 50% of the service price. Less than 24 hours will be charged 100% of the service price. The card details given when booking will automatically be charged and future attempts until successful. This applies to all bookings no matter when booked, so if booking an appointment that is within the next 48 hours, be aware cancelling will still ensure this fee.

LATE ARRIVALS

Please arrive on time for your appointments as appointment times are not flexible. I appreciate clients may be late through no fault of their own, however I have a duty to other clients booked in. While I do my upmost to accommodate clients running late, clients arriving more than 15 minutes late will be classed as a missed appointment. I reserve the right to charge 100% of the price for appointments that are missed due to client lateness. This will be taken by card payment fore the details the online booking system holds for you.

PARASITES (FLEAS & RINGWORM)

Let me know which flea treatment you use when you book an appointment in the box provided. This will let me know when bathing is appropriate depending on the product. If you do not use any please write "none". If your cat has live fleas I will stop the groom immediately. The full price of the groom will be owed as the remaining appointment time will be spent treating the room before my next appointment.

If ringworm is uncovered during a bath appointment I will stop the groom as using the dryer can spread ringworm spores around fur. My disinfectant kills ringworm on services/towels/tools etc so although not a concern to other cats, this is a precaution to prevent a further outbreak on your own cat.

It's your responsibly to make me aware of any medical conditions your cat has that may effect the groom prior to your appointment.
